PE & Sport Funding

All children and young people should have the opportunity to live healthy, active lives. Positive experiences of physical education (PE), sport and physical activity at a young age help to build lifelong habits of participation.

Physical activity brings a wide range of benefits. It supports children’s physical health and mental wellbeing, helping to improve self-esteem, build resilience, reduce anxiety, and develop positive relationships. Evidence also shows that regular physical activity can improve concentration, behaviour and academic achievement.

At our school, we are committed to delivering a high-quality, inclusive PE curriculum alongside a wide range of opportunities for pupils to be active throughout the school day. We aim to ensure all pupils develop:

  • Motor competence — the skills needed to participate confidently in a range of activities
  • Knowledge of rules, strategies and teamwork
  • An understanding of how to participate in healthy, active lifestyles

We strive to provide:

  • Opportunities for daily physical activity across the school day
  • A broad and varied range of sporting activities
  • Inclusive provision that supports all pupils, including those who are less active or have additional needs
  • Access to extra-curricular clubs and competitive sport

The PE and Sport Premium is additional government funding provided to primary schools to support these aims. It enables us to make sustainable improvements to the quality of PE, sport and physical activity we offer, tailored to the needs of our pupils and school community.
