ABOUT NEWPORT PRIMARY SCHOOL

Newport Primary School is situated near the town centre of Middlesbrough and serves a multi-cultural community.

Our school was built in 1978 as a single storey building.  The nursery was added in 1984 and a children’s centre with a dedicated playgroup area and community room was completed in 2003.

The layout of the building is semi-open plan with both open and enclosed teaching areas.  It currently has a Foundation Stage unit, 8 classrooms, a Head Teachers room, a Deputy Head Teachers room, a main school office, a staff room and a multi-functional hall.  We also have a learning support room which was built in 2012.

The school grounds have a large playing field in addition to hard surfaced play areas.  There is also access to the community all weather pitch which is used daily.  We also have a wooden climbing area situated next to the community room.

The school has close links with the Newport Hub and sports hall, situated next door.

Newport Primary School has approximately 280 full time places in 11 classes and 26 full time nursery places within a joint Foundation Stage unit.  Nursery pupils attend across 2 sessions, morning and afternoon.

There are 15 full time teaching staff, including the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher and 31 non-teaching and support staff who support your children academically, socially and emotionally to ensure positive future outcomes for them.  There is an active Governing Body who together with staff, parents and members of the community work supportively in school.
